1. Introduction

Fernando Teresa San José, operating under the brand AldeaCode (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our websites and products.

The short version: We don’t collect your personal data. Our tools process everything locally in your browser.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

2.1 Files and Content

When you use DuneTools or our browser extensions:

  • Your files are never uploaded to any server
  • All processing happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly
  • Your snippets and shortcuts are saved locally on your device using chrome.storage.local
  • We have no access to your images, PDFs, videos, or audio files
  • Extracted emails and data stay on your device

2.2 Personal Information

We do not collect:

  • Names or email addresses (unless you contact us)
  • IP addresses for tracking (except basic server logs)
  • Device footprints
  • Browsing history
  • Detailed personal usage analytics (we only use aggregated, anonymized data for website optimization)

3. Specific Security: ProText Expander (Teclado)

Given the nature of ProText Expander, we apply strict privacy protocols to ensure the tool does not function as a keylogger:

  • 100% Local Processing: The text you type and the shortcuts you expand are processed exclusively in your browser’s volatile memory. Nothing is sent to external servers.
  • No Keystroke Buffer: We do not store a history of your keystrokes or log what you type.
  • Sensitive Field Isolation: The extension is designed to ignore input in password type fields and sensitive data areas.
  • No Data Exfiltration: There is no network communication that transmits your written content to AldeaCode or any third party.
  • Permission Transparency: The extension requires host_permissions (<all_urls>) to detect your shortcuts on any website, and clipboardRead specifically to enable the {{clipboard}} macro. These permissions are used strictly for local text expansion as described above.

4. Information We MAY Collect

4.1 Merchant of Record (Payments)

If you purchase a paid product, the transaction is handled by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record and official reseller:

  • Email address (for order confirmation and license delivery)
  • Payment details (handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy; AldeaCode has no access to your card data)
  • Order and billing history managed by Lemon Squeezy Inc.

This information is necessary to deliver your purchase and provide support.

4.2 Support Communications

When you contact us via email:

  • Your email address
  • Content of your message
  • Any attachments you send

We use this only to respond to your inquiry.

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 Lemon Squeezy (Official Reseller)

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller and Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy provides customer service for payments and handles returns. Please see their Terms of Service for more details.

5.2 Chrome Web Store

Our browser extensions are distributed through the Chrome Web Store. Google’s privacy policy applies to the download and installation process.

5.3 Vercel (Hosting)

Our websites are hosted on Vercel. They may collect basic server logs (IP addresses, request times) as part of standard web hosting.

5.4 Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how our website is used. This tool is only active if you provide explicit consent via our cookie banner. The data collected is anonymized and used for aggregated reporting to improve our service. You can withdraw your consent at any time through our cookie settings.

6. Cookies

We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.

We may use essential cookies only for:

  • Language preferences
  • Dark/light mode settings

These are stored locally in your browser and never sent to our servers.

7. Data Retention

  • Files: Never stored (processed locally and immediately discarded)
  • Purchase records: Retained as required for tax and legal compliance
  • Support emails: Retained for up to 2 years, then deleted

8. Your Rights

Under GDPR and similar regulations, you have the right to:

  • Access any personal data we hold about you
  • Delete your purchase records (except where legally required)
