1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy applies specifically to the ProText Expander browser extension (the "Extension") developed by Fernando Teresa San José (operating under the brand AldeaCode). We are committed to transparency and the protection of your privacy.

2. Privacy-First Commitment

The Extension is designed with a "Privacy-First" architecture. This means:

• Local Storage: Your text snippets, shortcuts, and statistics are stored exclusively in your browser locally using chrome.storage.local.
• No Telemetry: We do not collect usage data, typing patterns, or browsing history.
• Offline Capable: The core functionality works entirely offline.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

While using the Extension, we do not have access to, and therefore do not collect:

• The content of your text expansions.
• The websites where you use the shortcuts.
• Keylogs or input data (other than monitoring input fields locally for your specific triggers).
• Any personal identification (except minimal data for Pro License verification, see below).

4. Permissions & Transparency

The Extension requires certain permissions to function properly:

• host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required to detect your shortcuts on any website you visit. We do not read or store page content; it is used strictly for local text expansion.
• clipboardRead: Used only when you execute the {{clipboard}} macro to paste content. We do not access the clipboard at any other time.
• activeTab & scripting: Required to insert expanded text into the active field.

Permission Transparency: The extension requires host_permissions (<all_urls>) to detect your shortcuts on any website, and clipboardRead specifically to enable the {{clipboard}} macro. These permissions are used strictly for local text expansion as described above.

5. PRO License & Payments

If you purchase the PRO version:

• License Verification: We verify your license against our secure servers (aldeacode.com) using an anonymous machine hash.
• Payments: Processed by Lemon Squeezy, a secure Merchant of Record. We do not access or store your financial data.
• No Personal Data: We do not link your extension usage to your identity.

6. Optional Cloud Sync

If you enable "Cloud Sync" (Pro feature):

• Data is synced via chrome.storage.sync, a service provided directly by Google.
• Your data travels encrypted through your Google Account.
• We (the developers) have no access to this data.

7. Third-Party Services

Aside from the optional license verification and Lemon Squeezy for payments, the Extension does not use any third-party analytics, tracking scripts, or advertising services.

8. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy if features change. Updates will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date.
