Text Counter

See your text's stats update as you type: characters (with and without spaces), words, sentences, lines, paragraphs, average words per sentence, estimated reading time, and the top 20 most-used words with relative frequency bars. Tighten the count first by running the input through Remove Extra Spaces, Remove Empty Lines, or Find and Replace Text.

How it works

All metrics are computed locally from your input on every keystroke. Word frequency normalises tokens by lowercasing and stripping non-letter/non-digit characters; reading time assumes ~220 words per minute.

How to use it

  1. Paste your text

Drop in a draft, a tweet, a meta description, a chapter. Stats update live with every keystroke.

  2. Read the metrics

Characters with and without spaces, words, sentences, lines, paragraphs, average words per sentence, reading time at 220 wpm.

  3. Inspect word frequency

The top 20 most-used words appear with relative frequency bars. Useful to spot repetition and tighten a draft.

  4. Hit your length target

Trim the text in place until you fit a tweet, an H1, a meta description, or whatever budget your platform enforces.

Use cases

Stay under a tweet, meta description or H1 length limit.

Estimate reading time for an article.

Find the most-used words in a draft and trim repetition.

Quickly count lines in a paste before sharing.
